LASIS VERSION III
After LASIS II implemented in Miri and Sibu Divisional Offices, the Department decided to replicate it to Kuching Divisional due to the difficulty in maintaining LASIS I equipments in Kuching which breakdown frequently.
Besides that, the spare parts were not available due to obsolescence of equipments. It was also noted that one of the Systems, i.e. Survey Computation System (SCS) developed under LASIS II was not cost effective to be replicated.
Thus, the Department decided to redevelop SCS in Kuching Devision.
Thereafter, LASIS was referred to as LASIS version III. It was still
developed based on the Client-Server technology running on the similar
OS and Database of LASIS II.
LASIS III implemented in Kuching on 1 January 1999. The same version
was then replicated to the remaining Divisions. LASIS I, LASIS II and
LASIS III are collectively called LASIS Phase 1.
