1.  What are the various licenses?

  i.   General Prospecting License (GPL)

 ii.   Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL)

iii.   Mining Certificate (MC), and

iv.   Mining Lease (ML)

GPL

Licence is issued for carrying out general prospecting works/activities

Section 47

(Mining Ordinance)

EPL

Licence is issued subsequent to the GPL specifically confined to the metals/minerals

MC

Mining Certificate is issued to enable the applicant to commence with the mining operation immediately before the issue of Mining Lease

ML

A licence issued under the Land Code. Processing and administration of this licence is by the Mining Section
