The Planning Branch is responsible to regulate uses of land and buildings according to sound town and country planning principles and in tandem with the State's development policies. The Planning Branch, at the Headquarters level, has five  main sections, namely :

  Development Control Section

  Siting Section

  Urban Design

  Research and Regional Planning Section

  Engineering Section

A Planning Branch also exists in each of the Land and Survey Department's eleven Divisional Offices.
