VALUATION BRANCH : Miscellaneous Valuation Services
To assess the fair and reasonable current market rental for any landed property on sublease. Our Clients are:-
i. Other Government Departments
ii. Statutory Bodies
iii. Local Authorities
2. Assessment For Student Loan Purposes
To assess fair
market value of any landed property to be charged as
collateral security to Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation)
for purpose of student loan.

3. The Estate Duty Ordinance of 1933
Estate Duty,
where it is payable, is governed by the Estate
Duty Ordinance of 1933.
The Valuation Branch in the Divisional Office of the Land and Survey Department is mainly assisting the Probate Officer to provide an opinion on the market value of the landed property for the latter to ascertain the amount of estate duty payable.
The
Valuation Branch will not be concerned with the grant of
probate or, indeed whether probate is granted or not.
Following the recent amendment to the Financial Act, estate
duty is now abolished for any estate belonging to a deceased
dying after 1.11.1991.
4. Assessment of Fee Payable For Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL)
The assessment
for TOL fee is required when a licence is to be issued to
the successful allottee.
Amount to be assessed depends
on the approved usage that is to be carried out on the land
thereon.
Another important function of the Valuation Branch is assessing the market value of any landed property requested by the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak at Sarawak for auction purposes.
