The State Government of Sarawak has place great importance on the role of public relations in disseminating clearly and correctly the information on policies affecting the people.  Towards this end, the Public Relations Unit was set up in the Land and Survey Department on 21st February, 2000. The Unit acts primarily as a communication agent to channel information on land policies in the state to interested parties and the general public.


  • To enhance and sustain the Department’s reputation as a model agency in the management and administration of land;

  • To disseminate information clearly on the professional services undertaken by the Department in the administration and management of land;

  • To cultivate a close and proactive relationship with interested parties by being open to responses and suggestions for improvements.


To manage relations with interested parties, media and the general public in disseminating accurate up-to date information about the Department, activities, current policies on land, issues on land administration and management of land.

  • Plan, coordinate and prepare suitable materials for promotional activities and publicizing the Department;
  • Bridging the Department and its customers in managing public complaints;
  • Coordinate visits by external publics such as dignitaries,  government agencies and students to the Department;
  • Manage and coordinate programs / activities involving the Department and the government.

  • To hold Customers Day (Hari Bersama Pelanggan) incorporating amongst others,  dialogue sessions,  functions for delivery of Gazette Notifications for Native Communal Reserves, land titles, cheques for compensation of land acquired, delivery of Temporary Occupation Licenses (TOL), exhibitions in the Divisional offices;
  • To publicize through newspapers, radio and television the functions and services undertaken by the Department;
  • From time to time, distributing brochures and posters on the functions and services undertaken by the Department;
  • To coordinate actions taken in dealing with public complaints received through telephone calls, mails, website and the Talikhidmat Help Line services;
  • Coordinate official and non-official activities of the Department such as visits by dignitaries, Departments, agencies, non-governmental organizations, etc.
